Our Story

In 1997, on a cold wet November night in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Dr Bertie Weitkamp decided enough was enough and he was heading to Australia to complete a year of his anaesthetic fellowship training in the sun in Australia. He returned to UK after a fabulous 12 months in Melbourne determined to make the move Down Under a bit more permanent. Bertie and his family moved to Australia in 2002 after a long struggle through the mountains of registration and immigration paperwork and he is now a Fellow of both the British and Australian Colleges.

Once settled here, Bertie had calls from several colleagues from the UK and Germany asking his advice on how to go about the complex process of gaining registration in Australia and New Zealand. From these enquiries Plexus was born and is still run by Bertie and his wife Gillian. The Plexus team has grown over the years and has helped hundreds of doctors and nurses to make a new life in Australia and New Zealand.
